Already one of the industry’s top new faces, Jordan admits that he hasn’t yet become used to working with high-end brands that offered him exposure to a certain caliber of design and craftsmanship that wasn’t immediately available to him in his personal life. “I’ve always had an appreciation for shoes and as a model, I had the opportunity to work with all of these fashion houses and brands, so I developed my own personal taste,” he recalls. “The problem I’ve always had was that I was accustomed to all these high-end shoes, but they were very expensive at the time. When I started modeling, I couldn’t afford them and when I wanted to buy anything, it was really mass-market. There was literally nothing in between at that time.” Discover more info on Jordan Brooks model.
Best modeling experience so far? No I’m joking, it would definitely have to be having my face plastered all around London, I had posted a photo to my story on instagram of the Zara poster advert in the tube station and the joy and positivity that brought to people who I don’t know me was a good feeling I got so many good messages from family and friends who were happy for me is an experience is that money can’t buy. Eventually, though, I agreed that it was a good idea and that’s when we did that photoshoot that eventually got me on the cover but it was what changed everything – it will always be one of the projects that I will be most proud of. After that photoshoot, I got signed.
I am so happy to be back in New York, a city that has always been close to our hearts, said creative director Sarah Burton of the house’s first show in the city for more than 20 years. We showed the Dante collection here in 1996, and then came again with Eye in the autumn of 1999. It is part of our community, a place that has always welcomed us, and this season I want to honour that. So, this collection is inspired by that idea of community, and specifically by mycelium, by the reality of nature as a community that is far, far older than we are. Mycelium connects even the rooftop of the tallest skyscraper to the plants, to the grass, to the ground, to animals and to human beings. Mycelium has the most profound, interconnecting power, relaying messages through a magical underground structure, allowing trees to reach out to each other when either they or their young need help or are sick. The idea is humbling – beautiful – and, of course, a metaphor for interconnection and for community between people, between us all. We exist as single, individual entities on one level, but we are far more powerful connected to each other, to our families, to our friends, to our community. Given everything that has happened over the past two years, that seems more important than ever. As a community we are infinitely more able to restore, reinvent, rejuvenate – heal.
As a creator, how do you find ways to stay inspired? Films and photography inspire me, they’re both passions of mine that I absolutely love. They inspire me to travel, learn new things, connect with friends over new movies. Post my own photos and videos or post something on my own instagram story probably do things I’d never thought to do otherwise. If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be? Probably a dog, to be honest. Just to have someone love you so unconditionally and just not a worry in the world except where my ball went, and how to get my favourite person to go for a walk with me. The joy I see in EVERY single dog’s face when that happens is something I wish to experience for a whole day.
At Balenciaga, number four on our list, Demna originally hoped to address the intensifying anxieties of global warming. But the escalating crisis in Ukraine utterly changed his meaning. Balenciaga’s climate refugees with their leather garbage bags suddenly looked like war refugees. Having fled Georgia as a young boy when Russia invaded that country in 1993, Demna considered canceling the show, but ultimately decided to carry on. “Personally, I have sacrificed too much to war,” he said. “We must resist.” His cinematic presentation, set in a snow globe with models’ long dresses and long hair shuddering in the wind, produced the season’s most stirring visuals, and the catharsis that many of his followers were longing for.
As a result, he has made a few appearances in productions like Cassette, Total Ape: MORE, K4 ½, all of which were short films he starred in between 2014 and 2017. He is also believed to have made a minor appearance in Boardwalk Empire, although he is not credited for it. In modeling where he has made the most publicly known impact, it all began for his at the age of 15 when he landed his first major modeling job. With the arrival of Instagram and his decision to post pictures on the platform, he quickly expanded the wealth of interest in his as a model, going on to model for different brands like Calvin Klein, Nice Martin, P.E Nation, and a couple others.
